The mega sports event, RAILWAY INTER DEPARTMENTAL SPORTS MELA-2022 (IDSM-22), inaugurated today at Waltair Railway Cricket Stadium by Divisional Railway Manager Shri Anup Satpathy. The grand mela was witnessed by participants representing 15 departments. This event was conducted by East Coast Railway Sports Association, WALTAIR.
The inauguration ceremony commenced with lighting of sacred lamp by DRM Shri Anup Satpathy, Chief Guest. As a mark of beginning of IDSM-2022, Olympic size Torch was lit by DRM to imbibe the spirit of games. A squadron of International sportsmen & women carried the Torch around the venue starting with Dhyanchand awardee Smt N. Usha. Later DRM received the Torch to lit the main flame.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed by Smt Parijata Satpathi President ECoRWWO, Shri Sudhhir Kumar Gupta, ADRM (infra), Shri Manoj Kimar Sahoo, ADRM (operations), Shri Pradeep Yadav Sports Officer (Senior Divisional Engineer Coordination), Assistant Sports Shri M. Haranath (DFM), Shri B. Avinash (DEE), Vice Presidents of ECoRWWO Smt Kavita Gupta & Smt. Madhumita Sahu, Branch officers, executive members of ECoRWWO & ECoRSA and General Secretary of ECoRSA Reddy Srinivasa Rao. Cultural events were conducted at the venue.
Addressing the gathering DRM Shri Anup Satpathy said that Waltair Division as a team together excelled in all fields. Being the best Division in Indian Railways has unique feature of best performing staff and sport persons. He wished that this Sports Mela will fill the spirit of team work and enthusiasm to progress further to scale new heights. It is a big sports festival for our Division and making every one to ignite their inherent sporting talent and do better in progress of the Division. DRM wished all the best to all the participants and admired media for wide coverage.
On the inaugural day DRM represented toss for fist Cricket Match.
- In the first Cricket match RPF won the match by 10 runs against DLS
- In the second match Signal & Telecom beat Electrical (TRD) by 4 wickets
- Football matches are being conducted under flood lights in the Waltair Railway football stadium. Accounts team and Officers team will be playing the match today.
