East Coast Railway’s Waltair Division marked the 77th Republic Day with patriotic fervor at the Railway Football Ground in Visakhapatnam. DRM Shri Lalit Bohra hoisted the National Flag and delivered an inspiring address, greeting attendees and honoring the Constitution’s ideals of Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.
Shri Bohra highlighted Waltair Division’s stellar performance as a top freight-earning division, achieving 66.7 million tonnes loading (13% growth), ₹8,212 crore goods earnings (19% growth), and ₹9,147 crore gross revenue (17.5% increase). The division led Indian Railways in freight earnings growth by ₹1,220 crore, with enhancements in passenger services like Vande Bharat augmentation and 230 special trains.
Significant progress included 21 km doubling, 36 km third line, KAVACH on 175 locomotives, and Platinum Green certification for Visakhapatnam station. Employee initiatives featured compassionate appointments, ASTHA Centre resolving 1,900 grievances, and women empowerment programs under SWASTH NARI SASHAKT PARIVAR ABHIYAAN.
