WALTAIR DIVISION TO OBSERVE “SWACHHTA- HI- SEWA PAKHWADA”
As per the directives of the Ministry of Railways, Waltair Division is observing ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa Pakhwada’ across the Division from15th September to 2nd October 2018 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Nation.
With an aim to give special focus on cleanliness at Railway Stations and in trains, Divisional Railway Manager Shri Mukul Saran Mathur directed that Officers and Staff of all departments should be substantially involved in various activities during ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’.
During the Swachchta Pakhwada, tree plantation, Cleaning of approaches of stations, Colonies, Trains, conducting awareness campaigns, creating awareness among the travelling public and obtaining feedback etc will be organized. Swachhta Logo & National Flag will be displayed on all coaches by 2nd October, 2018. The Pakhwada (means 15days) programme planned as Two days each are proposed to be devoted to Swachh Station, Swachh Train, Swachh Neer, Swachh Parisar, Swachh Samwad, Swachh Awareness across the entire network of Indian Railways.
The Pakhwada commenced with the administration of Swachhta pledge to all Railway personnel by DRM Shri Mukul Saran Mathur. Prabhat Pheri (Awareness rally) conducted from DRM office to Railway Station; intensive cleanliness programme was organized in association with NGOs like Lion’s Club, Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation, Scouts& Guides cadets and Civil Defense personnel. Later Nukkad Natak (Street Play) was presented by Divisional Cultural association. Later speaking on the occasion, Railway staff, Officials, ECoRWWO members and cleaning staff expressed their views on Swachhta and its importance before the huge gathering at the stage. Massive green plantation programme was also organized to mark the occasion in association with ECoRWWO and NGOs.
DRM expressing his vision on Swachhta said that it is a big task which is to be handled from home and should be inculcated from childhood. Mere cleaning or observing it for a short span of time does not accomplish the dream of Father of Nation. The dream of Swachh Bharat-Swachh Rail would become real when each of one of us indulge ourselves in Swachhta with commitment. Every citizen should feel the social responsibility to exercise, observe and promote Swachhta, he added.
The Swachhta Hi Seva was observed over the Division. Various programmes like cleanliness, green plantation, Awareness campaigns, participation of NGOs etc were organized at Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Rayagada, Bobbili, Araku, Koraput, Jagdalpur, Kirandul etc.
To make “Swachta Hi Seva” initiative a grand success, it has been decided to include intensive awareness campaign using social media, Nukkad Natak, audio/video clips to motivate and involve passengers, students, families, pensioners, SHGs and other stake holders to also participate in the various activities of the “Swachhta-Hi-Sewa Pakhwada”.
