Exercise TIGER TRIUMPH Concludes
The Maiden Tri-Services India – US Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Amphibious Exercise ‘TIGER TRIUMPH’ concluded at Kakinada on 21 Nov 19. The successful culmination of the seven-day Exercise represents another milestone in the growing INDO-US strategic partnership. The Exercise involved the participation of Indian Naval Ships Jalashwa, Airawat and Sandhayak, Indian Army troops from 19 MADRAS and 7 GUARDS, Indian Air Force Mi -17 helicopters along with the Rapid Action Medical Team, and US Navy Ship Germantown with troops of the US Third Marine Division.
The exercise involved projecting flexible and swift mobilization capability of the Armed Forces in response to a HADR scenario. The Harbour Phase, at Visakhapatnam, included professional interactions and sharing of best practices between the Armed Forces of both the countries. The Sea Phase, from 17 to 21 Nov 19 off Kakinada, included joint operations by IN and USN Ships including landing of Relief Forces and HADR stores ashore. The forces from both the nations jointly set-up a Relief and Medical Camp at Kakinada as part of the simulated HADR scenario. The Exercise provided an opportunity for the participating forces of both sides to incorporate best practices and insights in the field of Amphibious – HADR Operations.
Ex Tiger Triumph represents a significant step in strengthening interoperability between Indian and US Armed forces. The conduct of this exercise support maritime security and benefit the global maritime community towards providing succour during natural disasters through the conduct of joint HADR operations.
