WALTAIR DIVISION CELEBRATES 78TH INDEPENDENCE DAY WITH GRANDEUR
The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm at the Waltair Railway Football Ground, Thatichetlapalem. Shri Saurabh Prasad, Divisional Railway Manager, hoisted the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salami, presented by contingents from the Railway Protection Force, Bharat Scouts & Guides, and Civil Defense.
In his address, Shri Prasad extended heartfelt greetings to all railway personnel and their families, praising their relentless efforts in achieving the Division’s remarkable performance. He emphasized the importance of this Independence Day as a milestone in our journey of progress during the Amrit Kaal, the period leading up to the centenary of our Independence.
Shri Prasad highlighted the Division’s impressive achievements, including surpassing Rs.10,000 crore in earnings for the first time, reaching a record Rs.10,268.72 crore in FY23-24. He noted a 22% increase in iron ore traffic, an average of 58 rakes per day, and significant expansions in long-haul operations, with a 74% increase in trains and a 39% reduction in stalling cases. The Division also recorded Rs.161.53 crore in scrap disposal earnings, up 71.8% from the previous year, and set a new high in non-fare revenue with Rs.8.12 crore, a 46.84% increase.

Manjushree Prasad, President, ECoRWWO, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Shri AP Dubey, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer Shri Ranjan Mohanthy, and other branch officers and staff.
The event also showcased cultural performances by the Divisional Cultural Association, staff, and RPF, with a highlight being a thrilling daredevil motorcycle performance.
