The Indian Naval personnel along with their families from various units of Eastern Naval Command participated in the Mega Cleanup Drive along with the local populace at the Beach front near the fishing harbour and Bheemili beach on Friday, 26 Aug 22. The World’s largest beach cleanup drive was organised by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) at 40 locations along the nearly 30 km coastline. The event saw large-scale participation by the general public including NGOs, District officials, Resident Welfare Associations, Students etc. Waste from the beach and coast was collected and handed over to GVMC staff for further segregation into different categories, including glass, fabric, metal, plastic and subsequent transportation to the dumping yard for recycling and reuse.
