MISSION SAGAR – INS KESARI ARRIVES AT PORT LOUIS, MAURITIUS
Indian Navl Ship Kesari arrived at Port Louis, Mauritius on the morning of 23 May 20 as part of Mission SAGAR, with the second consignment of essential medical supplies and a Medical Assistance Team which includes among others, a Community Medicine specialist, a pulmonologist and an anesthesiologist. The shipment also include 10 tonnes of Ayurvedic medicines.
The handing over ceremony of the stores was held at Port Louis Harbour in the afternoon, wherein His Excellency Shri Tanmaya Lal, High Commissioner of India, handed over the supplies to Dr Kailesh Jagutpal, the Honourable Minister for Health and Wellness. The minister also interacted with Cdr Mukesh Tayal, Commanding Officer Kesari during the handing over ceremony.
The first consignment of 13 tonnes of essential medical supplies had arrived from India on 15 April by a special Air India flight to Mauritius. The supply of these medicines and the medical assistance team was undertaken by the Government of India upon a request from the Government of Mauritius and once again underscores India’s commitment to further strengthening its multi-faceted people-oriented development partnership with Mauritius.
