Yet another earmark for the Visakhapatnam railway station by getting GOOD certification from Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). In the recently conducted inspection by CPCB, railway stations were classified in to three categories over Indian Railways. There were 91 objects to check for the categorization as Good, average and below average. The stations which will get more than 60 points will get Good remark; 40-50 marks as average and below 40 marks will be remarked as below average. Visakhapatnam adjudged with Good remark which bagged more than 60 points in the CPCB inspection. Only FIVE stations got Good remark, those are Jaipur, Visakhapatnam, Mysuru, Vadodara and Bilaspur railway stations. They observe/ inspect a wide range of subjects like Solid waste management, cleaning, green coverage, waste water management including recycling, ISO certification, Pollution control measures, hazardous waste management, plastic waste management, CCTV monitoring, biodegradable waste management, passenger feedback etc. This is a good achievement to the station in getting top slot among the railway stations that were adjudged as the Good railway stations by CPCB.
3rd UTKRISHT RAKE OF SAMATA EXPRESS FLAGGED OFF
The 3rd rake of Visakhapatnam-Nizamuddin-Visakhapatnam Samata Express introduced from Visakhapatnam, today. This is the 5th Utkrisht rake of Visakhapatnam & 10th of East coast Railway introduced. Railways initiated Project Utkrisht to upgrade coaches as environment-friendly ‘green coaches with many modern provisions. Waltair division planned for upgradation total of 11 rakes under Project Utkrist, with a cost of about Rs 1.25 lakhs per coach and about Rs 30 lakhs per rake..
The upgraded features include, New PVC flooring provided on the inside of the coaches, Complete panel replacement and High Quality Vinyl Wrapping done in the doorway/gangway area in the coaches, Energy Efficient LED lighting, Braille Signage for Seat/Berth Information, Hydrophobic Coating on all stainless steel items and Coach Exterior. The other provisions include, new colour scheme for exteriors with biege and maroon, high quality PU painting done on the exterior of the coach with an additional clear coat for bright and reflective finish, high quality reflective stickers have been used for coach Information indication instead of stenciling with paint. Swachch Rail Toilet (SRT), an advanced hybrid design of Bio-Toilet System, Choke free system and Complete odour sealing design, Venturi type ventilation and Stainless Steel dustbins etc.
