SWACHCHTA ABHIYAN COMMENCED OVER WALTAIR DIVISION
As per the directives of the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, Waltair Division of East Coast Railway has launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign to maintain railway premises free from plastic, garbage, and filth.
Waltair Division is observing the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan from August 1 to August 15, 2025, inspiring its entire workforce to actively participate in this noble mission. On the inaugural day of the fortnight-long campaign, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Shri Lalit Bohra led a Prabhat Pheri at Visakhapatnam Railway Station, with enthusiastic involvement from officers, staff, Railway Protection Force personnel, and Swachch Sewaks.
During the event, DRM Shri Lalit Bohra administered the Swachhta Pledge to officers, staff, and the public, who pledged to uphold cleanliness and participate in these activities under the Swachh Bharat Mission. The event was attended by ADRM (Operations) Shri Manoj Kumar Sahoo, ADRM (Infrastructure) Shri E Santharam, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer & Head of Environment cum Housekeeping Management Shri Praveen Bhati, and other branch officers.
Swachhta Pledge events were also organized at Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Rayagada, Koraput, Jagdalpur, Kirandul, Araku, Simhachalam, Duvvada, Electric Loco Shed, Diesel Loco Shed, Coach Care Centre, and other units across the division. The Environment cum Housekeeping Management wing will conduct intensive cleanliness drives throughout the division during this period.
Speaking on the occasion, DRM Shri Lalit Bohra emphasized that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan aims to eliminate single-use plastic, ensure effective waste disposal, and create public awareness and participation towards a cleaner environment.
