Waltair Division 500 Isolation Quarantine Beads Coaches Converted in Visakhapatnam,Vizagvision…
To help in the fight against corona virus, Waltair Division prepared its coaches as isolation wards in case of contingency. Indian Railways had earlier committed to convert initially 5,000 coaches into isolation wards for coronavirus patients and within a week it is on the way to its goal. With the conversion of around 60 coaches by Waltair Division, 500 isolation beds can be availed for contingency.
The coaching Depot, Visakhapatnam is the pioneer in converting the Railway coaches into the Quarantine/Isolation wards for the COVID-19 patients in short span of time than the target date under the guidance of DRM Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava. The following modifications have been done in the coaches to facilitate the COVID-19 patients.
1. Middle berths in all the coupes/bays in the coaches have been removed.
2. Each bay will accommodate one and 9 wards per coach have been created out of which one coupe can be used by the Doctors and Paramedical Staff.
3. One of the four toilets of the coach has been converted into a bath room.
4. All the wash basins (in lavatories and outside as well) in the coach have been provided with liquid soap dispensers. (06 No’s per coach).
5. Every coupe has been equipped with 04 no’s of bottle holders and 02 no’s of 3 peg coat hooks to facilitate the paramedical staff to hang the Intravenous fluids etc.
6. Every coupe has been equipped with 03 no’s of pedal operated dustbins of three different colours with disposable garbage bags.
7. The pipeline in the bathroom has been modified in such way that a bucket can be accommodated to fill the water.
8. The bath room of the coach has been provided with a bucket & mug and bath stool.
9. Health faucets have been provided in the bath room and in the western lavatory of the coaches.
10. Three curtains have been provided in every coach with two in the first coupe for the Doctors and Paramedical Staff.
11. Oxygen cylinder’ stands have been provided in all the coaches, can be availed as and when required.
12. A big dustbin has been provided in every coach.
13. Mosquito nets have been provided in all the coaches.
14. All the coaches have been attended for intensive cleaning along with disinfection and sanitization.
15. The safety gadgets like masks, PPEs, Sanitizers will be provided by the Medical department as and when a patient is isolated
