Vizag Vision Visakhapatnam : Margadarsi Award Dr. P K Josh receives prestigious award Gold medal at Andhra P-4 Foundation anniversary celebrationsAward in recognition of Dr. P K Josh’s tireless servicesNot only a common man, but also as the General Secretary of Concern Charitable Trust and Senior Citizens Union, Dr. P K Josh, who has been an inspiration to many by providing tireless services to the people, the state government has honored Dr. P K Josh with a prestigious award. A certificate of honor was presented.He received the award from the hands of Visakhapatnam District In-charge Minister, Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare and Diversity Minister Dr. Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneyaswamy, Bhimili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Visakhapatnam District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad, and GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg at the first anniversary celebrations of the Swarna Andhra P-4 Foundation held at the ‘Vizag Convention’ next to the Madhurawada Cricket Stadium.On this occasion, many praised the services being rendered by Dr. PK Josh.He praised that he has enlightened the lives of many people by serving the people selflessly.He congratulated him for becoming an inspiration to more people through the good programs he is doing.He praised that Dr. PK Josh has proven that to serve the people, it is enough to have a good idea and personality.He informed that this award was presented in recognition of his service activities.Later, Dr. P K Jose said that for the last 16 years, he has undertaken many programs in education, health, skill development training, medical camps, rugs for the elderly, poor students and the disabled in 35 mandals from three districts. He thanked the government for recognizing his services and giving him this award and the dignitaries who presented him with the certificate.
Vizag Vision New Delhi :DELIVERY OF MALWAN – THE SECOND ANTI-SUBMARINE WARFARE SHALLOW WATER CRAFT BUILT BY CSL, KOCHI‘Malwan’, the second of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow WaterCraft (ASW SWC) built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Kochi, wasdelivered to the Indian Navy on 31 Mar 2026.The vessel has been indigenously designed and constructed by CSL,Kochi to Indian Navy’s specifications in accordance with Classification Rules of DNV. Malwan’ draws its name from the historic coastal town of Malwanin Maharashtra, a region intrinsically linked to the illustrious maritime heritage of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The ship also encapsulates the legacy of the erstwhile INS Malwan, an Indian Naval Minesweeper which remained in service till 2003, thereby continuing the naval tradition of preserving distinguished warship names.The ship is equipped for underwater surveillance, Anti-SubmarineWarfare (ASW) operations in coastal waters, Low Intensity MaritimeOperations (LIMO) along with mine warfare capabilities. Measuringapproximately 80 metres in length and displacing 1,100 tons, the Waterjets propelled ASW SWCs are equipped with torpedoes, multifunctional antisubmarine rockets, and state-of-the-art sensors including advanced radars and sonar systems.With over 80% indigenous content, Malwan marks another milestonein indigenous warship construction and reaffirms the Government of India’s vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’. The ship proudly carries equipment and systems developed and integrated onboard by the domestic defence manufacturing ecosystem, including MSMEs.
Vizag Vision New Delhi :LAUNCH OF FIRST NEXT GENERATION OFFSHORE PATROL VESSEL(YARD 1280, SHACHI) AT M/S GSL, GOAYard 1280 (Shachi), the first of eleven Next Generation OffshorePatrol Vessels (NGOPVs), was launched at M/s GSL, Goa on 31 Mar 2026 by Mrs Shagun Sobti, in the presence of VAdm Tarun Sobti, Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff.The event was conducted with full naval traditions. Senior dignitariesfrom the Indian Navy, Ministry of Defence, and GSL attended the occasion. The construction of NGOPVs is being undertaken concurrently at two shipyards (GSL, Goa & GRSE, Kolkata). These indigenously built ships will augment the existing ten OPVs/ NOPVs for multi-domain operations, such as defence & surveillance, search and rescue, protection of offshore assets, HADR and anti-piracy missions. These ships derive their names from Indian mythology, with first ship (ex-GSL) being named as ‘Shachi’, meaning one who renders assistance. The crest design of NGOPVs depicts the constellation of Ursa Major and a red and white lighthouse.
Vizag Vision New Delhi :INDIGENOUS STEALTH FRIGATE ‘DUNAGIRI’ DELIVERED TO INDIAN NAVY – A MAJOR BOOST TO AATMANIRBHARTA IN WARSHIP BUILDINGINDIAN NAVY RECEIVES INDIGENOUS STEALTH FRIGATE‘DUNAGIRI’ UNDER PROJECT 17A AT GRSE, KOLKATADunagiri (Yard 3023), the fifth ship of Nilgiri Class (Project 17A) andsecond of the class built at Garden Reach Shipbuilding and EngineersLtd (GRSE), was delivered to the Indian Navy on 30 Mar 2026 at GRSE,Kolkata, marking a major milestone in achieving self-reliance in warship design and construction. Project 17A frigates are versatile multi-mission platforms, designed to address current and future challenges in the maritime domain.Dunagiri is a reincarnation of the erstwhile INS Dunagiri, a Leanderclass frigate, that was part of the Indian Navy fleet from 05 May 1977 to 10 Oct 2010, rendering 33 years of glorious service to the nation. This state-of-the-art frigate reflects a quantum leap in naval design, stealth, firepower, automation and survivability and is an admirable symbol of Aatmanirbharta in warship building.Designed by Warship Design Bureau (WDB) and overseen by Warship Overseeing Team (Kolkata), P17A frigates reflect a generational leap in indigenous ship design, stealth, survivability, and combat capability. Driven by the philosophy of Integrated Construction, the ship was built and delivered inenvisaged timeline. P17A ships are fitted with an advanced weapon and sensor suite compared to the P17 (Shivalik) class. These ships are configured with Combined Diesel or Gas (CODOG) propulsion plants, comprising a diesel engine and a gas turbine that drive a Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) on each shaft, and state-of-the-art Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS). The potent weapons and sensors suite comprises of BrahMos SSM,MFSTAR and MRSAM complex, 76mm SRGM, and a combination of 30 mm and 12.7 mm close-in weapon system, along with rocket and torpedoes foranti- submarine warfare. Dunagiri is the fifth P17A ship getting delivered to the Indian Navy in the last 16 months. The experiences gained from construction of the first four P17A ships have enabled compressing of build period of Dunagiri to 80 months, incomparison to 93 months taken for first of class (Nilgiri).Delivery of Dunagiri showcases the design, ship construction andengineering prowess of nation, and reflects the Navy’s unrelenting focus on Aatmanirbharta in both ship design and shipbuilding.With an indigenisation content of 75%, the project has involved over200 MSMEs and has enabled employment generation of approximately 4,000 personnel directly and more than 10,000 personnel indirectly.
Vizagvision New Delhi :FOURTH SURVEY VESSEL (LARGE) ‘SANSHODHAK’ DELIVERED TO INDIAN NAVY AT GRSE KOLKATAINDIAN NAVY INDUCTS FINAL SURVEY VESSEL (LARGE)‘SANSHODHAK’, COMPLETING FOUR-SHIP PROJECTSanshodhak (Yard 3028), the last Survey Vessel (Large) ship steeredby the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau, being built at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE), Kolkata was delivered to the Indian Navy on 30 Mar 2026.The contract for four Survey Vessel (Large) ships was signed on 30 Oct 2018. The previous ships of the same class, INS Sandhayak, INS Nirdeshak and INS Ikshak were commissioned on 03 Feb 2024, 18 Dec 2024 and 06 Nov 2025, respectively. The SVL ships are designed and built as per classification rules of Indian Register of Shipping by M/s Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE), Kolkata. The ship is capable of full-scale coastal and deep-water Hydrographic survey of port/Harbour approaches and determination of navigational channels/ routes. The ship’s role also includes collecting oceanographic and geophysical data for defence and civil applications.With a displacement of about 3400 tons and an overall length 110meters, Sanshodhak is fitted with state-of-the-art hydrographicequipment such as Data Acquisition and Processing System,Autonomous Underwater Vehicle, Remotely Operated Vehicle, DGPSlong-range positioning systems, Digital Side Scan Sonar, etc. Powered by two diesel engines, the ship can achieve speeds in excess of 18 knots. Keel of the ship was laid in Jun 22 and the ship was launched in Jun 23.The ship has undergone a comprehensive schedule of trials in harbour and at sea prior to its delivery.Sanshodhak has an indigenous content in excess of 80% by cost. Thedelivery of Sanshodhak is a testimony to the relentless efforts of theGovernment of India and the Indian Navy towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat and is a tribute to the collaborative efforts of a large number of stake holders,MSMEs and the Indian industry in enhancing the maritime prowess of the nation in the Indian Ocean Region.
Vizagvision New Delhi : INDIAN NAVAL SHIP TRIKAND CONCLUDES PORT CALL AT MAPUTO,MOZAMBIQUE INS Trikand, a frontline guided missile frigate of the Indian Navy,concluded her port call at Maputo, Mozambique on 29 Mar 2026.During the port call, joint training and professional engagements were conducted, enhancing strengthening interoperability and maritime cooperation between the Indian Navy and the Mozambique Navy.HADR relief material from India was handed over in presence of HisExcellency Dr. Ussene Hilario Isse, Health Minister of Republic ofMozambique; His Excellency Shri Robert Shetkintong, High Commissioner of India to Mozambique, and other senior government and military functionaries. A medical camp was also conducted at Mozambique Navy Hospital. Capt Sachin Kulkarni, Commanding Officer, called on the High Commissioner of India to Mozambique.On departure, the ship undertook joint EEZ surveillance and trainingactivities with personnel from Mozambique Navy embarked onboard, prior proceeding for planned operational deployment.The port call underscores India’s vision of MAHASAGAR (Mutual andHolistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Region) andreinforces the Indian Navy’s commitment to remain the preferred security partner and first respo
