VIZAG NAVY MARATHON – 2025


The much-awaited 10th edition of Vizag Navy Marathon (VNM-25), being conducted as part of the Navy Day Celebrations, was officially announced during a press conference held today at Dolphin Hotel, Visakhapatnam. The marathon event, organised by Eastern Naval Command, is scheduled to take place on 14 December 2025 (Sunday) at RK Beach, Visakhapatnam, promising once again to showcase the spirit of fitness, camaraderie and community participation.
The press conference was addressed by Cmde Anirudha Roy, Commanding Officer, INS Kalinga & Race Director of VNM-25, who highlighted the preparations for this flagship event. The event was graced by GVMC Commissioner, Mr. Ketan Garg, IAS as Chief Guest, along with representatives of partner organisations. State Bank of India (SBI) Which continues as the Title Sponsor for this edition of the marathon.
Registration for VNM-25 will commence on 01 September 2025 through the official website www.vizagnavymarathon.run.
To encourage wider participation, special categories of discounts have been introduced, including bulk registrations, corporate group discounts, and early bird offers for those who register at the earliest.
Race Categories
This year’s marathon will feature the same race categories as last year, catering to runners of all levels.
The categories are:
• 42.195 km Full Marathon.
• 21.097 km Half Marathon.
• 10 km Run
• 5 km Fun Run
Race Routes
All competitive race categories – Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10 km Run – are starting from RK Beach. The routes have been designed to provide runners with a scenic experience along the city’s coastline while ensuring safety and ease of movement through well-coordinated arrangements with civil authorities.
Promo Runs
In the run-up to the event, a series of promo runs and conditioning & strength training programs are being organised at RK Beach on every second Sunday of the month to engage the running community and encourage fitness among citizens.
Enhanced Runner Experience
In line with the tradition of offering unmatched runner support, VNM-25 will include a runner’s kit (goodie bag, free T-shirt, refreshments), on-route hydration, medical aid and post-race refreshments & entertainment. Additionally, all participants will receive participation certificates.
Commitment to Community & Growth
Commodore Anirudha Roy underlined that the Vizag Navy Marathon has grown from 4,000 participants in 2014 to 14,000 in 2024. This year, more number of participation than the number to previous editions is expected, making it one of the largest city marathons in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, GVMC Commissioner, Mr. Ketan Garg, IAS, stated that the Vizag Navy Marathon is more than just a sporting event—it is a celebration of collective commitment to health and well-being in the city of destiny.
The dignitaries during the conference extended an open invitation to all fitness enthusiasts, professional runners and citizens of Visakhapatnam to come together for this grand sporting celebration on 14 December 2025
