A real-time rescue and relief exercise was organized by Civil Defense organization of Waltair Division of East Coast Railway at Visakhapatnam Railway Station today on the eve of 57th Civil Defense Raising Day celebrations. The civil defense force is an institution of volunteers set up to play an effective role in disaster management and during times of contingency. A real time rescue operation to evacuate victims, injured in an atmosphere of bomb blast/ fire incidence in a crowded area, at Visakhapatnam Railway station, under the guidance of Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, DRM, Waltair and Shri N.R. Sahu, Sr.Divisional Safety Officer, Waltair. The entire operation was monitored by ADRM Shri Akshay Saxena, officers from various branches.
Speaking on the occasion DRM Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava said that a civil defense volunteer is one who jumps into action during a fire, a building collapses and other natural calamities, disasters, for the defense of the citizens and also provide them first aid etc. It is very essential to conduct mock drills for exchange of expertise, views, techniques etc. The entire event was organized by Shri CHUBE Prasad, Civil Defense Inspector and other officials from Civil Defense department of Waltair Division.
