WALTAIR DIVISION CELEBRATES 125 OF ITS GLORIOUS JOUNEY,VISAKHAPATNAM,VIZAGVISION..

Waltair Division of East Coast Railway commenced its journey in 1893 and completed 125 years of glorious journey. The glittering ceremony of 125 celebrations were organised at AU Convention Centre, Visakhapatnam which was witnessed by large gathering of employees, officers, Local Government Officials, Public Sector Under Takings and Media persons.
The auspicious occasion was graced by Chief Guest Shri Umesh Singh, General Manager, East Coast Railway and other Distinguished guests Prof G.Nageswar Rao, Vice Chancellor , Andhra University; Shri P.K.Pathi, CMD, Steel Plant; Shri Rajeev Sharma, AGM, ECoR; Shri Mukul Saran Mathur, Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair.
On this auspicious occasion a commemorative coin was released which will be given to its 18000 employees…a special postal cover was also released to mark the occasion having the logo of this special event…on this occasion 10 retired railway employees were felicitated whose contribution was remarkable in the growth of the Division…
Welcoming the large gathering DRM Shri Mathur , appraised the Division’s achievement throughout its journey of 125 years and milestones which made the Division unique in the history of Indian Railways… he said that from mere two platforms and a goods shed the Division has expanded multi folds to have major in the Indian Railway economy and life line to the nation. Apart from sprawling the railway track to every corner of the division, infrastructure for maintenance & safety has been given priority; passenger facilities focused and updated as per the demand and need..

Remembering the contribution of Railways in National Economy Prof G. Nageswar Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Andhra University mentioned that The University is also having an admirable bonding with the Waltair Division for the last 100 years and said that it is the true unifier of diversified cultures and customs.
Shri P.K.Rath, CMD, Steel Plant (RINL) said that Waltair Division is prime transporter of Industries, ports here at Visakhapatnam and surrounding region and have immense contribution towards development of this region…
